Education by Montessori
Montessori is a revolutionary method of observing and supporting the natural development of children.
Almost 100 years ago, Dr. Maria Montessori, one of Italy’s first female physicians, inspired the birth of a worldwide educational movement. She established a school for under privileged children, whereby she combined sensory-rich environments and hands-on experiential techniques. Dr. Maria Montessori believed that the best way for children to learn was by doing.
To her, learning was not the passive acceptance of other people’s ideas and pre-existing knowledge. Instead she saw learning as an activity undertaken by the learner - the active pursuit of knowledge through a series of meaningful, interactive experiences: physical, social, emotional, and cognitive.
Willow Park believes that learning takes place in carefully prepared, stimulating and nurturing classrooms. In these prepared environments, children at various stages of development learn from and with each other in a fun-loving space.
We foster the growth of the children in our care, develop their awareness and encourage them to take an interest in the world around them.
